3 Tips to Execute the perfect Strength Cycle.
Jan 13, 2026
We are 2 weeks deep into the new year! Your motivation is driving you like a freight train! Your pumps feel hulkish! It’s like battery cables to the nipples; it's so exhilarating! Wait… What???? Yeah! This is what I see every year as a personal trainer. Clients come in seething at the mouth ready to kick ass and take names. By Valentine's day, wine and chocolate is already back. The excitement is gone, and the reps start to suck. I get it. I experience this cycle every year myself. However, I stick to my plans, and they have kept me in shape for over 20 years. This single biggest factor to my success is executing my first 6 week program flawlessly. In this article, I am going to share with you 3 Tips to Execute a Perfect Strength Cycle for Men, and launch your fitness to a new level this year!
3 Tips to Execute a Perfect Strength Cycle for Men!
- 0 Adjustments.
- Get in the Rep.
- Patience.
Zero adjustments.
The single biggest factor for success is to execute your plan as impeccably as possible. No modifications based on how you feel. No weight changes because it feels heavy. Nothing. Nada. I don’t care what excuse you have. DO NOT CHANGE A THING. Why? Before we expect results we must develop consistency. Consistency is the skill we are developing in the first 6 weeks. This consistency will provide 6 weeks of data to be analyzed, and adjustments. During the next 6 week strength cycle, results can be predicted. Effective loading volumes, and periods can be chosen. Each strength cycle becomes more effective than the last. Consistency yields progress. Get out there. Pick a plan. Execute it. If you need help, hire an expert like myself.

Get in the rep.
Arnold said, “ I think the biggest mistake people make in the gym is they just go through the motions. They do not have their mind in the muscle.” What he is speaking of here is proprioception(spatial awareness). My clients regularly attempt to speak while exercising. If you are talking, you are not paying attention. Attention is required to feel your muscle, make every fiber fire, and complete a successful rep. This attention builds the neuromuscular connection. When every fiber fires, your muscles will become more efficient, and strong. As you return to each exercise session, you will notice you have an increased ability to sense your muscle, and get the most out of your programming. Overtraining is prevented. Injury risk is reduced. Results are maximized. This is the perfect trifecta for results. Go forth, and feel the pump dudes.
Patience
If my parents were smart, they would have named me Patience. It is the last thing I have any of. Maybe I would have patience if it was my name. However, I have had to learn patience, and teach it to my clients. We currently have roughly 70 years of useful data on humans' response to exercise stimulus. I would say it started with the Russians in the 50’s. The collection and analysis of this data has established some pretty hard periods the human body adheres to. One of these is the recovery, and growth of muscle tissue. Many of my clients like to thinking they can out train these periods. Maybe if they worked a little harder, the results will come faster. Wrong. When we are training, we must stick to the time domains. Whether it is a specific rest period between sets, or between workouts; they must be adhered to.

In conclusion, if men want to execute a successful strength program, consistency, presence, and patience are required. We are not special. We are simply meat sacks with an independent perspective on this world. Training volumes, time domains, and periods are essential to continue to build muscle into your 40’s. If you need help with a plan, or your current plan is not effective, I will build an effective, efficient strength program just for you!
