Merry Christmas Fatty! 3 Reasons Men Need to Eat, Drink, and Be Merry for Christmas!
Dec 18, 2025
Yeah you read the title right. I hope you are fat right now. At least more fat then the rest of the year. Tis is truly the season to eat up, drink up, and be merry! I am literally doing this as I type. I have exercised about once a week for the last 3 weeks, and will maintain this frequency until January. I have drank more beer then your Grandad, and am lacing my calories with sugars, and extra delicious toppings. Don’t worry! Once January peeks its head, I will get back in the saddle, and ride through the soreness once again. Why should men's holiday nutrition and exercise change? Glad you asked! Here are 3 Reasons to Exercise Less and Eat MORE for Christmas!

Rest - Muscles & Joints
Just scroll through my blogs. See how many are about Rest. There is a reason men must rest, but I will not go into the deep science today. This will be simple and useful information. First, we rest because our muscle, and joints need it. We rest for long periods in December, because men’s muscles and joints need a LONG rest period to fully heal. Second, we rest our nutrition restrictions. Eating more food means excess calories for muscular healing (GAINZ!!!!). A starved body will not heal well. Third, the lack of exercise, and excess calories lead to fat gain. Guess what is extremely beneficial for healing joints? Fat! By reducing exercise, eating more, and getting a bit fat, we provide an environment for total body healing!

Healing - Nervous System
Physical rest is step one. Once we are resting physically, our nervous system begins to heal. Yes, it can wear out just like muscles. To most men this is known as a mental reset or a de-stress period. Fundamentally, we are resting the unit as a whole. Psychological healing is a side effect, but not the focus of this paragraph. Men’s nervous systems need time to wind down and process the physical change we have created over the last 11 months. This equates to better movement patterns, more connected neural pathways, and a sensation of total body connection. This is deeper hearing. The kind of healing that allows men to stay mentally strong throughout the year!
Natural - Manliness
Finally, resting during this season is natural. Days are short, weather is subpar, and it just feels like a rest season. The whole world is resting as should we. Even the grass outside, and the animals in the forest are resting. This is a natural cycle. One we are bound to. Food that naturally grows during this season is autoimmune boosting as well as anti-inflammatory. Click here for a seasonal produce guide. The days shorten leaving us less time for activity. The weather becomes less inviting, forcing us indoors. It’s almost as if Mother Nature is telling her men to rest. She is. A man must sit back and enjoy his work. He must rest his manliness, rebuild his man points, and prepare for next year.

In conclusion, we are simply men. We must rest, and nature provides the nutrition for healing. Whether it be mental, or physical Mother Nature provides for her men! All we must do is take a long moment, have a long sit, and listen. The laughter of friends at gatherings, glee of children on Christmas day, and the barking of the annual family argument are reasons enough to sit back and enjoy a year worth of hard work. Another lap around the sun. Another year of wisdom to grow. Enjoy this time. Spring will be here soon, and us men have work to do!
